I was introduced to Graphic Design when I was in high school. My mom worked for a television station at the time and they had a “neat new machine” that I just had to see. I did a job shadow with their designer and immediately fell in love with graphic design.
When I was looking at colleges, there were only 3 state colleges/universities in all of New England that offered Graphic Design as a major. That helped make my decision pretty easy! I attended Fitchburg State College. During that time, we learned the basics of Graphic Design. We created logos by hand, became skilled with exacto knives and even learned how to develop photographs in a dark room. Skills that professional designers nowadays know little about. We learned how to use PageMaker right along side our professor. Computers were brand-new technology then. It was a very exciting time to begin a career in Graphic Design.
Throughout my career in the field of graphic design and marketing, I have seen and kept pace with all of the changes in the industry. From paste-up layouts to web design and everything in between. I have enjoyed each step along the way, and am inspired by learning new things. I enjoy the variety each day and look forward to and embrace new challenges. I am excited to see where the next 20 years will take us.
